Celebrating the Value of Differences
A little bit about me
"I have thrived when encompassing challenges & enjoyed leading & supporting staff in different educational settings to reach many magical moments with a range of young people
I believe in working together in partnership to support and encourage differences"
I feel privileged to have over 18 years experience working within the education system and with a variety of families
I worked initially as a teacher in mainstream primary schools and then within a special school for 6 years. During this time, I completed my Postgraduate qualification in Autism & Challenging Behaviour
It was here that I developed a passion to help those young people who struggled to access teaching and learning and I wanted to do so much more
Following my vast, varied and interesting experiences within the teaching profession I then worked as an advisor, consultant and manager in several different local authorities across the UK
I worked as a consultant on a mental health project in schools across Yorkshire, working in conjunction with Child Adolescent Mental Health Services (CaMHS). Here, I delivered a variety of mental health training citywide to professionals within a plethora of settings
Over the years I have developed a deep knowledge, understanding and expertise within mainstream schooling, special/alternative and further education. However, it is my passion to continue making a difference to young people’s understanding and their views of the world and their education that continues to be so very valuable to me
